We are traders through and through. We trade meat, poultry, fish, vegetables, and dairy. Since 1974, we’ve been buying these products directly from producers worldwide and selling to importers and wholesalers in over 100 countries. The market considers us competitive yet reliable. From our headquarters in Dordrecht, our team of traders, a good mix of young and experienced professionals, works the global markets. We also have purchasing and sales offices in Germany and England.
Trader at Kühne + Heitz
The world is your trading arena. As a trader, you are largely responsible for concluding contracts worldwide. You are an entrepreneur within Kühne + Heitz and a key player in negotiations surrounding purchases and sales. By leveraging your up-to-date knowledge of market developments and leveraging price differences and exchange rate fluctuations, you know how to close the best deals at the right time. Close collaboration with your colleagues and strong internal and external communication are essential. Our team of purchasing and sales traders works together weekly to achieve optimal returns.
A trader thrives in a hectic environment. Trading primarily involves (telephone) negotiations, sometimes with multiple parties simultaneously. Therefore, quick thinking, excellent numerical insight, and an unerring sense of market opportunities are essential. A healthy dose of assertiveness and self-confidence will also be beneficial within the organization. The trading team is supported by a professional logistics team, which handles the operational processing of contracts. As a trader, however, you remain responsible for the proper handling of your case.
Traineeship
Learn all aspects of trading in an international organization through on-the-job training and courses. Your goal is to develop into an independent trader within 12 months, serving your own market through import, purchasing, or sales/export. Learn the ins and
outs of purchasing specific products/product groups and selling our product range in our global sales territories. Join our in-house logistics department to learn how contracts, transport, and associated regulations and documentation work. Learn how to generate new leads and expand a (potential) market.
You’ll initially work closely with experienced colleagues to establish your own accounts and develop a strong network within your sales territory or product group. You’ll quickly be given the responsibility to run your own business, contacting and visiting customers both domestically and internationally. You’ll quickly expand your portfolio and ultimately close successful deals independently.
What do we expect from our Trainee?
· A completed HBO or WO education in commercial or business administration; 0 to 1 year of work experience;
· You are enterprising, commercial and decisive;
· Excellent command of spoken and written Dutch and English. Fluency in an additional (commercial) language is a plus;
· Strong analytical and communication skills;
· A good dose of determination, common sense and stress resistance;
· A hands-on mentality: you see opportunities (market potential) and know how to seize them; you’re ready for an international career in a fast-paced world.
